Millpool Campus: A Supportive Pathway Back to Success

Millpool Campus is based in Kings Heath and is a KS3 only campus. We provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils in Years 7 to 9 who require additional support in their education journey. Every young person who joins us is met with high expectations, a personalised approach, and a belief in their potential to thrive.

Our curriculum follows the national curriculum and is both rich and diverse, ensuring pupils continue to make strong academic progress while developing the knowledge and skills needed for a successful return to mainstream education. Learning is carefully designed to be engaging, challenging, and relevant to each pupil’s future aspirations.

Alongside academic development, we place a strong emphasis on personal growth. Pupils are supported to understand and regulate their own behaviour, build positive relationships, and develop confidence in themselves as learners. Our restorative justice approach helps pupils reflect, repair, and move forward with a stronger sense of responsibility and belonging.

At Millpool Campus, every pupil is valued, every achievement is celebrated, and every step forward is recognised. Our aim is simple: to prepare pupils not just for reintegration into mainstream school, but for a bright and successful future.

Pastoral Welfare

Within the campus we have access to onsite and external Pastoral Support which pupils can access. If a young person requires specific mentoring or Social and Emotional support this can be accessed via a range of referrals to support agencies and services.

Attendance

We expect full attendance at COBS and ask that should your son/daughter be unwell, you contact us daily to inform the Attendance Officer of the absence. Please call us on 0121 464 3023 at the start of the school day if your child is unable to attend school. We also work closely with the Local Authority to support full attendance, and should you require help and advice we are able to provide this along with our CSAWs worker who visits the campus weekly.

Residential Visit to the Pioneer Centre

Each year, pupils at Millpool Campus have the opportunity to take part in a two‑night residential visit to the Pioneer Centre, an exciting outdoor education venue designed to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience. This experience allows pupils to step outside their everyday environment and challenge themselves through a wide range of adventurous activities.

During the visit, pupils can take part in caving, high ropes, zip wires, rock climbing, and other outdoor pursuits led by fully trained and experienced instructors. These enriching activities encourage pupils to develop trust, communication, and problem‑solving skills while discovering new strengths in a supportive setting.

The residential is often a highlight of the year, giving pupils the chance to build positive relationships, try new experiences, and return to school with a renewed sense of achievement and self‑belief.

Pop up Bookshop

2026 is the National year of reading, which is a nationwide initiative led by the Department for Education in collaboration with the National Literacy trust. The aim is to reverse the decline in reading and inspire a lifelong love of books. Here at COBS we have launched the year long event by hosting a pop up bookshop. Pupils from Millpool went over to the bookshop, and they were able to choose their own books to take home. Our pupils were thrilled to see the author, Steven Camden, at the event. Steven has hosted a workshop previously at Millpool and hopes to continue working with us.
